This is a review of NO LAUGHING MATTER, part 2 of G. Legman's RATIONALE OF THE DIRTY JOKE. It's an amazing book but not an easy one. G. Legman is (was?) apparently self-taught and his book draws inspiration from the Gilgamesh all the way up to the 1960s -1970s humor magazine SEX TO SEXTY, which was still current in the early 1970s when Legman's book was publishable only abroad. Topics include male homosexuality, sado-masochism, lesbianism, and prostitution.
